| A
Community of Angels
Los ANGELes by Marnie Tenden / photographs by Michele Dugan / design by Hannah Kaufman The Los Angeles Community of Angels Project is modeled after a public art project introduced in Switzerland. Eight hundred fiberglass cows were decorated by local artists and strategically placed across the landscape. The event was hugely successful in bringing the community together. Other cities created their own variations and all with great success. New York is using the cow, while Cincinnatti honored pigs. Orlando is decorating lizards, St. Paul selected Snoopy, Toronto featured moose, and Lexington, Kentucky decided on horses. Chicago earned worldwide media attention and added more than $200 million to their economy with their version of the project. Here in Los Angeles, the City of the Angels, we decorated Angels. To celebrate the spirit of our diverse community, The Los Angeles Community of Angels Project showcases emerging and established regional talent. Sponsorship of the Angels Project raises funds to support important youth programs in Los Angeles. For more information and to view the angels online, visit The
